The Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the return of the Light Up The Night Hillsborough Holiday Parade on Sunday, December 1st at 4:15 pm. Downtown Hillsborough will welcome thousands of residents and visitors to enjoy the popular annual event, as part of the Hillsborough Hometown Holidays Festival season.
Grand Marshall of this year’s parade is America’s Got Talent and American Idol standout, Adam Lee Decker. A local favorite who resides in Durham, NC, Decker is currently the frontman for the group Spaceship Days, sings with the acapella group “Transit”, and performs acoustic shows throughout the Triangle area of North Carolina.
The parade will feature dignitaries such as out-going Mayor Tom Stevens, Mayor-elect Jenn Weaver, and Town Board members, followed by bands, local and area businesses, cheerleaders and dance troupes, well-known mascots, and of course, Santa Clause. The parade will travel through downtown Hillsborough, south on Churton St from Corbin St to Margaret Ln, where the event will conclude on the Old Courthouse Square with a tree lighting ceremony and community sing, featuring performances from Bull City Music School and Steph Perry music. Check out this interactive parade route map that shows where everything will be.
Food trucks with a variety of options including Korean BBQ, tacos, fritters, sweets, and kettle corn will be available for visitors starting at 3pm. The food trucks will be located in the parking lot of the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce at 200 Churton St, and around the Old Courthouse Square. Residents and visitors are encouraged to come out early to enjoy some holiday shopping and a bite to eat before the parade, as well as to secure parking and a favorite viewing spot.
